Josef Kuře
Josef Kuře is a philosopher devoted to bioethics and medical science, Head of the Department of Medical Ethics at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and Vice-Chairman of the Bioethical Commission – an expert and advisory body for the Research, Development and Innovation Council of the Government of the Czech Republic. He received a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Innsbruck, specialized in bioethics in Berkeley and in Washington DC (the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Center for Clinical Bioethics, Georgetown University) and was awarded a habilitation degree in social medicine by Masaryk University. Josef Kuře has also worked on a number of European projects concerning socially ethical aspects of biomedicine and biotechnologies. When dealing with the philosophical bases of bioethics and ethics in biomedical research, he lays the emphasis on thinking oriented towards the future.
